  • Breast Health Awareness - informing students about breast health and resources for prevention.
  • Eating Disorder Awareness – The last week in February is Eating Disorders Awareness Week. We work with a coalition representing various departments across campus to highlight this issue and the resources available.
  • Red Flag Campaign - Dating violence is an issue that some women face. The Red Flag Campaign is a social marketing effort to raise awareness of unhealthy relationships and encourage women and men to look for the "red flags" in their relationships.
  • Resource and Referral Referral is an important part of the mission of the WOC. We have a listing of services in the community for various issues that face women. We are happy to connect students to resources when possible.
  • Sexperts - Sexperts is a peer education program in which students complete two days of training on safer sex education. Our safer sex educators present in residence halls, classrooms and fraternities/sororities. They have a one hour presentation that covers the facts of STD’s and pregnancy prevention in a game-show style format.
  • Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) The WOC Coordinator serves as the university’s SART Coordinator. In this role, the coordinator provides training and support for a team of staff advocates who volunteer their time. Advocates are on call 24/7 to respond in the event of a sexual assault of an OU student.
  • Sexual Assault Awareness Programs - raising awareness and providing education to prevent sexual assault on our campus.
  • Sooner Ally Sooner Ally is a training program that increases student, staff and faculty member’s understanding of Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) issues and to provides support and resources to those students.
  • Speakers that focus on the needs of women and enhance our student’s overall learning experience.
  • $tart $mart Workshop - Women still earn only .77 cents to every dollar a man earns. Over the course of a woman's career, on average this can add up to a millon dollars in lost earnings! The $tart $mart Worskhop provides women with information on how to overcome the gender wage gap through benchmarking and negotation skills.
  • Step in, Speak out -Our sexual assault prevention program uses same gender facilitators to educate peers on risk reduction, supporting a survivor and bystander education.

  • The Vagina Monologues The Vagina Monologues is a national event that happens during the month of February. OU conducts its own performance in the Meacham Auditorium for two nights. All ticket sales go to the Women’s Resource Center and the V-Day Foundation.
  • Women’s Equality DayWomen’s Equality day is August 26th and celebrates the adoption of the 19th amendment granting women the right to vote. You can make a difference by registering to vote, voting and by becoming a Voting Advocate.
  • Women’s History Month – Women’s History Month happens in March and is an effort to celebrate the unique contributions women have made to our world.
