The Women’s Outreach Center celebrates April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and devotes the month to raising awareness of this issue through various programs.
The Clothesline Project is a national project that creates a visual display that bears witness to the violence against women. Shirts are decorated to represent a particular women’s experience, either by the survivor herself or by someone who cares about her. During the public display we hang the shirts on a clothesline in the South Oval and have tables with information and statistics concerning violence against women.

The White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women. The white ribbon is a symbol of men’s opposition to the maltreatment of women. Wearing a white ribbon is a personal “pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls.” The Women’s Outreach Center dedicates a week to distributing white ribbons to men on campus and teal ribbons to women to increase awareness. Take a look at these OU men taking a stand against violence towards women.
