Chapter – Used to refer to a fraternity at the University of Oklahoma. The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is made up of 18 chapters.

Chapter Bid – An invitation to join a fraternity at the University of Oklahoma extended by any fraternity. This includes verbal and written invitations, including, but not limited to: written bid cards, phone calls, e-mails, text messages, and any other forms as determined by the Interfraternity Judicial Board (IFJB). This is a non-binding invitation to join, not to be confused with an IFC Bid card, which is binding.

IFC Bid – An official bid from the University of Oklahoma IFC, signed by a recruit to signify his intent to pledge a particular fraternity of the University of Oklahoma IFC. IFC Bids are considered binding; signing an IFC Bid constitutes a commitment to join the particular fraternity indicated on the IFC Bid. A Recruit who signs an IFC Bid will not be eligible to sign another IFC Bid for any other IFC fraternity for one semester.

Members – Any undergraduate associates, members, new members, or pledges of a Chapter.

Open House – A chance to visit any fraternity of your choosing. Their front door should be open with someone present to greet you and show you around or introduce you to other people. Open House is a great chance to meet fraternity members and tour their house.

Recruits – Any male, non-affiliated student enrolled or planning on enrolling at the University of Oklahoma.

Recruitment Event – Any event held for the purposes of affiliation into a Chapter and/or considered an activity by the Chapter’s insurance at which five or more Recruits are present.
