Asian American Annual Programs
New Sooner Orientation for Asian-American
A special session to introduce new Asian-American students to campus
community and the support services available to them. New students will
meet their retention interns, Asian-American student leaders, and
upperclassmen. The student organizations' officers and retention
interns will guide tour on campus.
Asian-American Leadership Retreat
To provide opportunities for students leaders get together evaluating
their accomplishments, transfer responsibilities, ensure the goals of
the organization be continuously carrying out, and to encourage active
members taking on leadership roles in the future.
Asian-American Awards Banquet
The program is to recognize the outstanding achievements of students in the
areas of academic, leadership and community services. Application for Outstanding
Asian-American Student Awards is available in the Asian-American Student
Life Office in March each year.
Indian Nite
The cultural program is dedicated to promote Indian
culture and heritage among the University community. The
program is hosted by Oklahoma Undergraduate India Society.
Graduation Ceremony Reception
To recognize and celebrate the success of Asian-American students for their achievements.
Asian Oklahoma Nite
The program was initiated in late 1980 with the
hope to share with the community the rich and beautiful heritage
of Asian culture as well as create a stronger friendship
among students and Norman community. The event is hosted
by Asian-American student organizations and many International
Asian student organizations on campus.
Filipine Cultural Nite
The cultural program hosted by Filipino-American
Student Association is to share with campus community the
beauty of Filipino heritage through dances and music.
Asian-American Cultural Week
A weeklong program celebrating the diversity of Asian heritage. It
provides the campus community opportunities to learn about cultural
differences through art works, films, food fair, and discussion on
issues related to Asian-Americans.

Christmas for Headstart Children
Each year Asian-American Student Association sponsors
a Christmas Reception for needy children. The event provides
a festive atmosphere, gifts, and fun activities to the
local children in Headstart program. It also provides the
students an opportunity of "giving-back" to community through
their sposorship of a child for the event.
Mr. and Miss Asian-OU Pageant
Mr. and Miss Asian-OU will represent the university
Asian-American student community in any programs and
activities. They will be attending all AASA functions,
New Year Celebration, Awards Banquet program, and
two major community services: Christmas program for
Headstart Children and the annual Elderly Project.
