Register Here for Panhellenic Formal Recruitment

Recruitment Manual Information
A Panhellenic Recruitment Manual for fall 2009 will be mailed to all incoming undergraduate freshman and transfer women mid June. It may take a couple weeks to receive the manual. It is not necessary to request a manual if you have been admitted to the University of Oklahoma by May 15, 2009.

Recruitment 2009 Facebook Group Panhellenic Association has created a Facebook group called OU Sorority Recruitment 2009. Women interested in Formal Recruitment should join to receive information about the entire recruitment process. Note: Joining this group does not register you for formal recruitment. It is simply a means to stay informed. We will not allow membership to the group unless you are on the list of women admitted to the University of Oklahoma.

Recruitment Week Overview 2009
On this page, you will find information about the Formal Recruitment, Registration, Formal Recruitment Week Housing, Meal Information, What to Bring, Emergency Phone Numbers, 2009 Recruitment Schedule, and Informal Recruitment

Formal Recruitment 2009
Formal recruitment is the main process the National Panhellenic Conference sororities at the University of Oklahoma use to recruit new members. Formal recruitment is conducted before the start of fall semester, beginning on Thursday, August 13 and concluding with Bid Day on Tuesday, August 18, 2009.

The week consists of four rounds of events that allow potential members the opportunity to learn about each sorority at OU as well as what it means to join a sorority. During the recruitment events women will have the time to ask questions about sorority activities, financial obligations, new member programs, scholarship, community service and sorority life in general.

It is important to recognize that formal recruitment is a selection process. All women will visit every sorority during the first round (Open House), but the remaining rounds are by invitation only. Just as the sororities are narrowing down the number of women attending each round of events, potential members may only accept a certain number of invitations to each round. The Panhellenic Adviser and Recruitment Guides (Rho Gammas) will explain the process in detail throughout the week. Each potential member will be assigned Recruitment Guides who will be available during the entire process to answer questions.

Participation in formal recruitment DOES NOT guarantee an invitation to join a sorority, nor does it obligate a woman to join. However, approximately 80-90% of the women participating in formal recruitment each year join a sorority at the end of the week!

Registration 2009
To participate in formal recruitment, a woman must be a full-time, undergraduate woman enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and registered with the University of Oklahoma Panhellenic Association. In the past registration was done via mail by completing the registration form included in the Recruitment Manual. This has changed. For the 2009 Formal Recruitment has moved to online registration. See the link at the top of the page to register.

July 15 is the last day to register for Formal Recruitment without being penalized with a $25 late fee. Formal recruitment registration forms will be accepted until Friday, August 7, but potential members are encouraged to register as early as possible.

Formal Recruitment 2009 Week Housing
All potential members participating in formal recruitment must live in the residence halls during the week. If you have a residence hall contract for the 2009-2010 academic year, you will be assigned your permanent room during this week.

University Housing and Food Services will charge this fee (approximately $20.19 per night) to your university bursar's account - do not send this fee with your recruitment registration.
