What is the IFC?

The Interfraternity Council, or IFC, is the umbrella organization that exists to serve the needs of the 18 fraternities within our council. IFC is responsible for the coordination of many events and activities throughout the year. It also represents fraternity interests to the campus and surrounding community, coordinates membership recruitment activities, promotes and coordinates community service and philanthropy projects, sponsors educational programs and leadership development opportunities for chapters, initiates public relations projects for the entire fraternity community, and manages judicial affairs. OU IFC has dedicated itself to providing the University of Oklahoma’s fraternity men with an opportunity to be part of one of the nation’s most prestigious and dynamic Fraternity and Sorority Student Life communities. We hope you will take a few moments to navigate the links on this site to find out more about our amazing community and what it has to offer you!

Quote from the President

Welcome to the homepage for the Interfraternity Council of The University of Oklahoma!

Webster’s Dictionary defines fraternity as, “A social club for male college undergraduates. They often have secret initiation rites, and are named by the use of two or three Greek letters” but any member of a fraternity specific to the OU Greek system would likely define fraternity as much more than that.

I’ll never forget my first experience as a fraternity member, as I sat on the steps of my respective fraternity. An alumnus from our chapter gave what I believe is the most accurate description of what a fraternity really is when he said, “Look around men, do you see all these new faces around you? These are men whom with you will grow substantially, the men whom with you choose to confide, the men whom you trust. Your new pledge brothers will be the groomsmen at your wedding, and the pall bearers at your funeral.”

Our Greek system is large and diverse; each fraternity has something truly unique to offer. I encourage all of you that may be interested in rushing a fraternity here at OU, to buck the stereotypes of specific fraternities and make your home for the next 4 years a place that aligns with your core beliefs and values.

The OU Greek system truly is one of the strongest in the nation, and members of the system love to participate in all of the activities offered, such as Intramurals, University Sing, Sooner Scandals, Homecoming, Parents Weekend, and many other campus wide events that include the Greek membership.

I encourage and welcome any of you with questions or comments concerning our Greek system to contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
